Basis of railway vehicles and rolling stock measurement
According to the regulations of the ordinance on the construction and operation all types of railway vehicles and rolling stock have to be measured before they are put into operation. Furthermore measurement is required after accidents (e.g. derailment or collision) and certain maintenance (e.g. revision). During the measurement different standards and guidelines, such as DIN 27202-10, RIL 984.0300, EN 13775 and VPI02 have to be observed.
Depending on the type of vehicle and the operator, there are different sets of rules. In cooperation with the respective operator and/or workshop, the 3D measuring system is specified by GLM in accordance with the applicable regulations. This includes among others:
- Measurement of the frame geometry
- Position of the measuring points
- Tolerance of dimensions
- Layout of the documentation (frame measurement sheet)
During frame measurement, the required position of the frame, the position of the measuring points and the tolerances are taken into account. The documentation of the measurement data is automatically output in the required layout (digitaland/or analog).
By using the measuring system you get a complete overview of the vehicle geometry. Torsion becomes visible before the first wear of certain vehicle components occurs.
Would you like to see the 3D measuring system in action? Then contact us, we will be happy to demonstrate the system in your workshop on a vehicle and/or bogie of your choice.
