Measurement of bogie frames

GLM Lasermeßtechnik offers mobile 3D measuring systems for frame measurement of bogies for more than 25 years. They are used for frame measurement in new and rebuildings as well as in revision (e.g. Y 25 DG). The control software of the 3D measuring system is oriented towards the user. The documentation of the frame measurement can be converted into Excel. By this interface the support of many different types of construction is easily possible. The free location (production line, painting hall, outdoor area, …) of the geometric frame measurement as well as the documentation of the measurement results in real time are only a small extract of the advantages of this 3D measuring system.

The geometric frame measurement of bogies includes the following:

  • Measurement of the vertical twist in z
  • Acquisition of the diagonal or cross dimensions in xy
  • Measurement of the actual dimensions and comparison with the nominal dimensions (e.g.: sliding jaw distance, inner distance of bearing guide, …)
  • Measurement and control of symmetry (flatness, squareness and parallelism, …)

The bogie measurement is based on different regulations (e.g. Ril 984.0300, VPI02 or DIN EN 13775-3).

These 3D measuring systems are also suitable for the measurement of vehicle frames. You can easily measure and document the lower frame of a freight wagon (e.g.: 2-axle wagon) or the frame of a locomotive.

GLM supplies and maintains the 3D measuring system just described. However, workshops in the medium and light maintenance sector like to use our measuring service. Since the measurement of bogies is not part of their daily business.
